Alexander Georgiev completed his training in classical percussion instruments in Anton Bruckner University – Linz, Austria with two master’s degrees – solo performer and orchestral performer in the class of Prof. Bogdan Bakanu and Prof. Leonard Schmidinger. In 2013 he won a place in the “Academies” program and took a position in the percussion section instruments of the Bruckner Orchestra – Linz. From 2016 to 2017 he is a percussion teacher at the Kremsmünster Music School – Austria. From September 2017 Alexander Georgiev is a professor of percussion at the Gustav Mahler University of Music in Klagenfurt, Austria. He is invited to lead master classes in Austria, Germany and Israel. Alexander Georgiev began his percussion training at the age of 11 at NUMTI “Dobrin Petkov” – Plovdiv in the class of Pencho Penchev and completed his secondary education as a winner of the “Dobrin Petkov” award for high creative achievements.
Winner of first prizes in the competitions “PENDIM” – Plovdiv, “Hope, Talents and Masters” – Dobrich – Albena, “Golden Peacock” Varna, “Svetoslav Obretenov” – Provadia.
Alexander Georgiev gained his experience as an orchestral musician in the ranks of the Bruckner Orchestra – Linz, Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Philharmonic National, Vladivostok symphony orchestra, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Salzburg Chamber, El Orfeo Baroque Orchestra and others.
Central to his career is chamber music. In this field he has partnered with world famous musicians such as Martin Grubinger, Yuja Wang, Alison Bowson, Ferhan and Ferzan Yunder, Denis Russell Davis, Ronnie Barak, Rani Kryzhna, Vivi Vasileva and Fabian Homar, with whom they formed the “Alpha” duo.
Alexander Georgiev is part of the ensembles: Perkasiv Planet, Ensemble Mini, Ars Antikva, Braskashan.
As part of these ensembles he has participated in the festivals: Salzburger Festspielen, SchleswigHolstein Musik Festival, Festival de Radio France-Montpellier, Musikfest Bremen, Herbstliche Musiktage – Germany, NCPA Music Festival – Beijing.
