Fabian Homar was born in Wales, Austria. He received his first lesson at the Wales School of Music, initially on piano, with Dino Secui. At the age of eight, he began playing percussion lessons with Max Murauer. During this period he repeatedly won first prize in the Prima la Music competition.Between 2008 and 2016 he studied for a bachelor’s and master’s degree in the class of Prof. Leonhard Schmidinger and Prof. Bogdan Bakanu at Anton Bruckner University and completed both studies with excellent results. Fabian Homar has gained orchestral experience in various youth orchestras, such as the Anton Bruckner University Orchestra and the Vienna Youth Orchestra.Since 2013 Fabian Homar is a member of the BRUCKNER ORCHESTER LINZ. Since 2019 he has held the position of Professor of Orchestral Percussion at the Gustav Mahler University of Music – Klagenfurt / Austria.Since 2019 he has held the position of Professor of Orchestral Percussion at the Gustav Mahler University of Music – Klagenfurt / Austria.
He is also a frequent guest at renowned orchestras, such as the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra and the Munich Philharmonic. Fabian Homar together with his colleague Alexander Georgiev created the percussion duo Alpha, with which he has various performances, for example in the Vienna Music Fair. His chamber activities include concerts with Martin Grubinger and the Percussive Planet Ensemble. His concerts have taken Fabian Homar to China, Australia, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland and the United States. He plays under the baton of renowned conductors, such as Ricardo Muti, Dennis Russell Davis, David Akham, Ivor Bolton and Hans Graf, in the halls of the Vienna Musicfair, the Vienna Concert Hall, Carnegie Hall New York, the Philharmonic Gasteig Munich, as well as at the Festspielhaus Salzburg and Brucknerhaus Linz.
